Perfectly Romantic Ideas for a Valentine’s Breakfast at Home

Some people see Valentine’s as much more of a commercial holiday and as a couple, therefore, they instead choose other days and other ways to show their partner how much they love, appreciate and value them throughout the year.

However, just as many people place a great deal of importance and emphasis on Valentine’s Day itself, and if your better half is expecting a day of presents and pampering, then there is no better way to start the day than with a Valentine’s breakfast.

Read on for some ideas for treating your loved one with a romantic Valentine’s breakfast.

Hearts, Hearts and More Hearts!

Obviously, if you were to ask absolutely anyone what shape is most indicative of the day of the Valentine, it would be the heart.

There is a seemingly endless range of different heart-shaped accessories which will serve to make your breakfast more romantic and therefore, appreciated by your partner; from heart-shaped ice cube trays to after-breakfast mint hearts made of pink chocolate. You could even look online for heart-shaped bread cutters, to make the toast a perfect heart-shaped for your beloved.

Make it Personal!

Naturally, preparing a delicious breakfast for your loved on, especially if you plan on presenting it to them in bed, is an intimate treat, but for an even more romantic experience, you should think about personalizing the breakfast itself.

One fantastic idea is to (in plenty of time) order a selection of custom stencils, which you could use on the milky froth of fresh coffee, or even as a sugar stencil to send a loving message on the top of pancakes.

The more personalized the breakfast, the more thought it will appear has gone into the preparation.

Try Your Hand at Baking Your Own Bread

No breakfast, least of all a Valentine’s Day breakfast, is complete without the morning staple of fresh bread and if you have the time, making your own bread would be a sure-fire winner.

Fortunately, (although an art form in itself) making your own bread is slightly easier than it sounds and truly does produce the best-tasting and -smelling bread you could possibly wish for. For one medium loaf of delicious and freshly baked bread, you will only need the following ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil
  • 500g of strong bread flour
  • 300ml of hot water
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 7g of dried yeast

Think About the Little Details

Once you have decided the way you are going to cook your eggs (poached is always best in such situations) and have settled on the various components for the Valentine’s Day breakfast, you now need to turn your attention to the finer details.

Fresh flowers are an absolute must, and for extra points to start the day off well, find your loved one’s preferred types and have them in a clear glass vase on the side of the tray. Make sure that all the cutlery you use has been thoroughly cleaned and polished, and that you have included decorative napkins on the side of the plates, too.
